Terrorist Attack on Malala
On 12 October 2012, Malala was going home after taking exams by bus. Middle of nowhere, an assassin and a Pakistani gunman named Tehrik-i Taliban attempted to kill Malala. Besides her, two other girls were shot dead. However, Malala was fortunate to survive that brutal attack.
Taliban terrorists banned female education in 2009. Malala was going against the rules which the terrorists put. In addition, she was campaigning for female education and got a few responses. To silence Malala’s effort, the Taliban sent an assassin to murder her.
Malala’s Medical Treatment
After the headshot from Taliban terrorists, Malala’s life was at risk. She was taken to Peshwar’s military hospital. Doctors at that hospital had to start an operation as the left part of her brain started lumping as the bullet went through her left brain.
A five hours successful operation was held to remove the bullet from her head. On the following day, Malala had to go through decompressive craniectomy, which helped her brain swell further without damaging the nerves.
On 11 October 2012, Malala was shifted to the Rawalpindi’s Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology. Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik announced that the Pakistan government would bear all the expenses of Malala’s treatment. It was very relieving for her lower middle-class family.
